Window into Captivity ~ acrylic, chalk pastels and charcoal painting on canvas torch light photo print of original © 2016

I made this painting in November 2016 in response to a FiLiArt exhibition on the theme of refuge at Oxford House Gallery in London in December 2016.

I shone a torch light through the window from the back of my original canvas, my intention being to shine a light on torture children captive in their homes endure.

I had first drawn this ordeal in pencil and charcoal in 2011 in my drawing ‘No one child.’

I decided to frame this first drawing and exhibit it instead of my painting ‘Window into Captivity’ at the FiLiArt exhibition at Oxford House Gallery in 2016 to honour this first drawing.
