In November 2018, my art banner “Out of the Shadows” travelled to São Paulo, Brazil with Lucy Tammam and FiLiA Art. The FiLiArt 100 artworks were created by women in 2018 to recognise 100 years since some women in the UK first got the vote on 14 December 1918. These 100 artworks were first exhibited in October at the 2018 FiLiA conference in Salford, Manchester UK.
There were three showcases of FiLiArt 100 artworks by women artists in Brazil: at Ateliê397 – an amazing artists studio, hub and show space in São Paulo, and at two venues of the British Council events.
The statement on my artwork is: “”Out of the Shadows” No more invisibilisation! Non-State torture is a crime, a violation of the human rights of women and girls.“ My art activism reached brazil.
